Coyote Girl
How did I become
so wild?
Half girl, half coyote
Like a vampire child
I was made this way
By my maker
A starman from Orion
And his lover, pulled out of time
by gravity
I heard them once in whispers
call the other by their twin flame name
a song only the other knows how to sing
calling forth the reunion
of one soul living for a time as two
Out of that union, I was made
for a specific purpose
which they keep from me,
for now, they say
So, as I wait, in not knowing
I keep myself busy
With all sorts of fun
I destroy in all the best ways
Setting fire to burn the doubt
of what a human life can be
I chase in unceasing play
to help them remember
how to dance disco
I love without conditions
I cry all the tears of this world
I laugh-bark at my hybrid self
And dine on the flesh of monsters that make wishes of fear
Coyote girls never fear
Our hearts are far too wild for that
